In accordance with the legislation by the United States Department of Treasury and the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the status of W-8BEN starts on the date it is signed, and remains valid through the last day of three consecutive calendar years. For example, W-8BEN signed on January 28, 2017, remains valid through December 31, 2020.

How to renew：

1) Individual account holder logs into POEMS, Select Foreign Stock ＞W-8BEN Form;

2) Online renewal is not available for joint account. Each joint account holder must fill and sign W-8BEN separately. After completion, signed copies in PDF format can be submitted to w8service@phillip.com.hk .
