1. How can I qualify for the zero commission discount on U.S. stocks?

Zero commission discount applies to all U.S. BUY stock contracts placed via POEMS online platform/App with transaction quatity less than 15. (Transaction activity fee (FINRA TAF) and clearing fees (NSCC/DTC Clearing Fee) are applicable.)

2. What is trade amalgamation?

Trade amalgamation allows you to combine your orders and calculate your commission on contract level which allows you to save on your brokerages. Trade amalgamation is automatically performed if trades are done on the same trading day on the same side, of the same stock with the same settlement currency through the same order channel.

3. What do Online and Offline Order refer to?

Online Order: Orders placed via POMES and mobile platforms
Offline Order: Orders placed over the phone

4. What are the US stock trading activity fee (FINRA TAF) and Clearing fees (NSCC/DTC Clearing Fee)?

Trading Activity Fee: It is collected by FINRA (The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the largest non-government securities self-regulatory association in the United States). Apply to all members of the association which trade registered securities on US exchanges (exempted from exchanges under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934) Except for registered securities), at all venues, a transaction activity fee is required. Applicable to Sell Order only, charge at US$ 0.000119 per share.
Clearing Fees: It is collected by the US clearing agent (National Securities Clearing Corporation, The Depository Trust Company) on stock clearing. Charge at US$ 0.003 per share.

5. How can I qualify for the zero commission discount on Japanese stocks?

Zero commission discount applies to all Japan BUY stock contracts placed via POEMS online platform/App with transactions amount less than JPY 250,000. (JPY0.3 per share administration fee applies (JPY 1 for less than JPY1).)

8. Do I have to pay capital gain tax on U.S. stocks?

No, non-U.S. resident aliens are not subject to U.S. capital gains tax.

9. What is the minimum trading unit for U.S. Stocks?

1 share (except for individual depositary receipts)

10. Is there a minimum price limit and a number of shares limit in U.S. stock trading?

There is no minimum price limit for NASDAQ (NASDAQ), American Stock Exchange (AMEX), and New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). Order place through POEMS can be set to two decimal places at most (individual penny stocks can be set to three decimal places at most). The smallest number of shares is limited to 1 share in a single order.

11. What are the regular trading hours for U.S. stocks?

Summer Time:
9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. U.S. (Eastern) time
9:30 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Hong Kong time

Winter Time:
9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. U.S. (Eastern) time
10:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Hong Kong time

12. Can I day trade U.S. stocks?

Yes, Phillip allows clients to day trade U.S. stocks. (Day Trade : the act of buying and selling the same security within the same day)

13. How do I trade at market price through POEMS stock trading platforms?

There is no market order function on our electronic stock trading systems, but you can use the following method to achieve a close to market order effect.
1) If you wanted to buy a security immediately, enter a buy instruction with a price higher* than the current ask price.
2) Conversely, If you wanted to sell a security immediately, enter a sell instruction with a price lower* than the current bid price.

*We suggest that the difference between the high and low prices should not exceed 5% of the previous transaction price.

14. What is Better Filled?

For example, If you submit an order to buy 20 shares of stock A at $35 and the current price of Stock A fell below $35. Your order could be filled with the rival price immediately at a more favourable price which is lower than $35.
